As an international student there are a few options you could look at whilst looking for accommodation at or around (USYD) University of Sydney which is located at Camperdown in Sydney.

2 – What’s around USYD University of Sydney?
Like (UTS) University of Technology Sydney, University of Sydney share pretty much the same surroundings.
Like the close by broadway shopping centre, Victoria Park pool and of-course it’s closeness to great funky cafe’s, pubs and restaurant culture suburbs like Glebe, Newtown and Pyrmont.
You can even catch a quick bus down to Leichhardt to have a taste of little Italy.
Or head the opposite direction towards the city on another quick few stops to Chinatown in Haymarket.

4 – What does the demographic surrounding the University of Sydney look like, who lives here?

You can see that average age of residents are quite young, predominantly single, 12% are studying and more than half renting.

5 – What’s on campus?
You say what about on campus shopping??? Great question … University shops are managed by the University of Sydney Union (USU).
For a full list of campus outlets including cafe’s, restaurants and even a mini mart head to the USU website.
It gives you details about Courtyard Restaurant and Bar, Footbridge Station, The Sydney Store, Caffe Tra Baci, Manning Bar, Laneway, Raw and more.
When you summarise all of this the area close to University of Sydney is pretty sweet
You can see as a student that you could enjoy the closeness of this place to the heart of the city.
And all that it has to offer like funky cafes and restaurants.
Beach is only a half hour bus ride to Bondi, it’s surrounding parks and even the swimming pool around the corner.
Let’s wrap it up: according to the locals the suburb of Camperdown around USYD University of Sydney is great because;
- Its close to everything
- Has a great shopping centre off campus and even on campus shops for your convenience
- Has great parks & recreation
- Has a pool around the corner
- Has funky cafes & restaurants on campus and near campus in great suburbs like Newtown and Glebe
- Has great pubs and even the great live event venue that’s run by artists Venue 505 that’s straight down Cleveland Rd in Surry Hills
- Your great neighbours are Professionals, singles and other students
NOT so great because
- Cost of living can be pricey
- Not much peace & quiet since it’s close to the city
